View Full Version : The Legend of Zelda Live Action Movie...?
Afraid not. But there is a live action trailer, heh

It looks mad corny but very much like the video games (especially OoC). Apparently IGN made this trailer on April Fool's of this year to try and get filmmakers to do a real one.
So I put this question to you: Would you want to see a live-action Zelda movie?

I think it would be fantastic, if done right. That trailer is pretty awesome.
A lot of people seemed to really like the trailer. To me, it seemed kinda like a Sci-Fi miniseries which, really, wouldn't be a bad route for Zelda, I would think.
I've gotta admit, if they did make one (whether I thought it was shit or not) I would likely end up seeing it anyway.

Agreed there, I would definitely see it regardless of the critics.

Given how much the plots of the games* seem to suck**? No thanks
* - I've only actually played the NES/SNES/Game Boy Ones
** - Not to say the games themselves suck, only their plots or complete lack thereof

I could rant about what you just said but I'm not going to.
It really would make a good movie. I think OOT would take more than one movie, honestly. There's too much to cover even if going straight to plot points. Neat trailer though.

o_O what makes you think the plot sucks?

o_O what makes you think the plot sucks?Zelda 1: No Plot.
Zelda 2: Essentially no plot except "zomg run around the world cause Zelda's sick"
A Link to the Past: Sorry, but "run around and gather the princesses cause we said so" has about as much plot depth as Doom.
The Gameboy One: Finally, something resembling a plot, although a rather weak one.

Zelda 1 did have a plot, there just was no dialogue to carry it on. Well, it had about as much plot as an NES game could have.
Zelda 2 had a different reason for Link running around, but even though there was dialogue (if you can call it that), it didn't help carry the story at all.
Zelda 3 (Link to the Past) was kind of a reboot as far as the story was concerned. There was a reason for Zelda being persecuted (the wizard Gannondorf wanted to use Zelda and the other maridens' power to get to the Triforce in the Dark World), a reason you got the pendants (you had to prove yourself worthy of bearing the Master Sword, the only weapon that can hurt Gannondorf/Ganon), and a reason you tracked down the Crystals (by taking their power from Ganon, you could stand against him since he had the full - more or less - power of the Triforce behind him).

These games were old (especially the first two), it's kinda hard to show off the plot and game at the same time back then.

You have to say that the newer zelda games (Especially Ocarina of time) have a definite plot. It would make sense to make the movie based on that point of the game.

He doesn't have to say that, because he hasn't played them.

Well that's where he fails.

Exactly. Heck, even Final Fantasy had a worthless plot. And have you played Dragon Warrior?! Yeesh. NES games always had bad plots.
But for LttP, I don't think you're giving it enough credit. There's a lot of neat dialogue, I found the backstory in the house that was previously owned by a thief to be interesting, especially when you go there in the dark world. There's a lot of mini story points that are awesome, and the overall story was good, too. Basic, but still good, and I liked the dialogue.
And until you play Ocarina of Time (or Wind Waker if you want really cool story), your opinion about Zelda storylines = null!

I agree, the plot became really significant once Ocarina of Time came out, there wasn't a popular thought about a movie until then.
Final Fantasy had always been good with plots, at least starting with FFIV and FFVI for the most part.

I didn't even play Zelda 2 or Wind Waker....
Besdies to be honest Dragon Warrior 4 had some nice story for a NES game. I was quite impressed by it.
Hell, if you want to see an awesome movie. They should do castlevania. Nill story but yet awesome action/work around ability.
