Bill - stop harassing MudKipz and asking for people's phone numbers in a public thread. It's just not cool on the webbynet.

Funny, I think there is only like two or three people who have my cell phone number I think that is online. Chef, Gio(Cause the admin section of my old website had it in just in case), and Colonel Skills(I'm sure there are some who know who he is.)

Other than that, I don't know anyone else to trust them with my number.

Mine is just some free samsung flip phone that I got from T-Mobile, upgraded from an old one for free but had to extend my contract which is just fine.

Bill, take no for an answer. Geez. If she's not gonna give you the number she's not.

Anyway, my phone is a pocket PC phone. it's an HTC PPC6800 (http://www.shopalltel.com/product/product.htm?prId=33245)

It's a horrible phone, but it kind of works. I think I may have dropped it 15 too many times though, attributing to the fact that it's about it break and only a few months old.

I have a Motorola RAZR. The red one. Yes, the AIDS phone. I purchased it at the US Cellular store without a contract, although they are also my carrier. It's my second phone. I don't stay very cutting edge or care about doing so.

Sometimes I talk and drive, but it's difficult with my stick-shift, so I avoid that. In general, everybody knows I'm not the kind of person who drops everything to answer a call, and most people know I hate talking on the phone because of my hearing. I don't respond to text messages because I don't have a texting plan because I think it's a waste of money.

And I would totally sell an iPhone and buy something non-pretentious that's not a disaster of convergence technology.

http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/bto/20070313/samsung_150x274.jpg

Where did you get it from? one of those little mall kiosks

What is your company? Verizon

How many have you had? LOL I drop phones like terrible. Probably like 10 since 2000

Do you drive with it? Yes, I cannot afford the handsfree automated program to let me talk from within my car. LOL

Do you text or talk? both, it depends on the subject.

If you won a free iphone would you sell it or keep it? well, I would keep it, but I don't know if it would be "compliant with my current plan" (so i probably couldn't activate it)

Here are some of the specs of my phone:
a 1.3-megapixel camera (meh, could use better)
Bluetooth (hella expensive)
a speakerphone (which is so easy to use, I just found it 2 weeks ago, it's not even listed in the user's manual to see how to use it)
a microSD card slot (but you can't use anything off the card (ringtones, images, etc) on your actual phone- wasted $49.99 on the card since it doesn't come with)
EV-DO support (WTF?)
V Cast (http://reviews.cnet.com/photo-video-services/verizon-v-cast/4505-9242_7-31299289.html) and V Cast Music (http://reviews.cnet.com/music-services/verizon-wireless-v-cast/4505-9240_7-31694930.html) compatibility (same as Bluetooth, too expensive for non-billionaires)
voice commands (still haven't found these, but apparently they are there)
and support for Verizon's VZ Navigator (http://reviews.cnet.com/handheld-software/verizon-wireless-vz-navigator/4505-3638_7-31814632.html) and Chaperone services (also extra cost for usage)

No, I would not since I'm hearing impaired.

I have a LG VX8300 (http://tech-faq.phonedog.com/r/c/6171-3702-167-175-250x275.jpg) through Verizon.

I think this is my third. My first was a POS LG that was barely useful for talking. My dad got it for me the day I passed my driving test. My second was a Samsung a670 (I think) that I got when my dad upgraded and wanted to go back to his old phone. Rather than not upgrade, he upgraded me (for free, somehow, even though it wasn't my time to upgrade) and then traded phones with me.

Of course I drive with it. That's the reason I have a cell phone in the first place: so that I can call if I need something or in case of emergency.

I don't really make an effort not to talk on the phone and drive at the same time. If I'm out in the country, I'm probably driving fast along winding roads, so it's likely that I won't answer. If I'm on the interstate or in the city (when it's not loaded with traffic) I probably will answer, if I have it out of my pocket. Other than that, though, it just depends on if I'm expecting a call. It doesn't really matter to me that my car is a stick shift, I've learned how to talk, shift and turn (through and intersection) at the same time (without a handsfree device).

Although I don't have a texting plan, I do occasionally send texts and picture messages. I've figured the cost to break even at around 60 or so texts, meaning if I send more than 60 texts or picture messages, it'd be cheaper to get a plan.

If I won an iPhone, I'd keep it, but I'd only pay for phone service and basic web service. Anything else and it gets to be a gold brick that you hold up to your ear to hear sounds come out of.

Additional note: after I got a microSD card (and some software I found online), I uploaded my own ringtone that I use. Now, when my phone rings, I'm treated to a 30-second clip of Ozma's Korobeiniki. <3!!

By the way, I think EV-DO support is the network that phones can now use for data transmission. 1X is the voice transmission network.

I find it interesting that your cellphone Aing, has a normal watch in it and not a digital one.

Aingeleag
07-01-2008, 14:26
Not to sound rude but.Why are people so carless whith there expensive toys?

Well, it's mostly not so much that I'm just like.. talking on it and drop it. Usually I have it in my pocket at work, or in my purse (which is a big ole bag); and it likes to slide out of both whenever I bend over at certain angles, or it falls out of my pocket when I sit down. Also another good one is I usually leave it on vibrate during work hours, so after I get home if I don't remember it stays that way, so if someone calls and it's atop something, it's laible to vibrate off the edge. I also had a couple where the screen quit working, or the battery quit (the actual nodes in the phone, not the replaceable part). Had one come unclipped out of the holster and fall in the toilet at cracker barrel once too. Luckily the toilet had already flushed.. O_O.

And
I find it interesting that your cellphone Aing, has a normal watch in it and not a digital one.

Yeah, I really liked that feature. I also like the input options available on it. So when I type in numbers, it has the usual colored numbers onscreen, but it also has one where a quill pen scratches them out in cursive ink (with accompanying scratchy noise) or else the one I have on it now, where the numbers pop up in multicolored post-it notes (with a little sticking noise)

Plain and simple what kind of phone do you have?

Features

I personally have the original 8gb iPhone. With ATT.

I LOVE IT.

Ever since I hacked the 2.0 update for the phone and started adding applications. And believe me there are a million of them. Here are some of my free ones.

Myspace

Facebook

AIM

Pandora

AOL Radio (yes live radio)

My phone can be used as a light saber, comes with an assortment of colors, each with unique sound. Depending on how you swing it.

Guitar Hero

Music Identifier

Local restaurant locater.

iBeer

Cowbell

Flashlight

Thats just some of them.

Here are the down sides. Play music too long and your battery dies quick. Ever since I loaded the phone down the keyboard isn't as responsive and can lag for half a second or so.

But I am hoping that will be fixed with the next update. All in all I love it, and cant live without it.

I just got an LG enV Touch through Verizon, to replace my old VX8300 (or whatever the last phone I posted about was). I'm trying to figure out how I can get my old ringtone back, but I guess this is so new, there isn't widespread non-pay methods available for it yet. Still, I'm happy with it so far.

Like other enVs, it's a clamshell flip-open phone, which means it opens horizontally, instead of vertically, which reveals a full QWERTY keyboard, plus a display as large as the front. Like the LG Voyager (a touch-screen), the front of the phone is a large touch screen with "haptic" feedback in the form of a short vibration burst plus a small audible "click" to let you knew when you've registered a "hit" on the screen. I amused myself for the whole shopping trip to Greenville today by browsing my contacts list and flicking the screen to send the list flying like a rolodex or something. The visual, plus the vibration from each contact entry passing the center of the screen, made it feel like I had the "Wheel of Fortune" in my hand. I giggled like a schoolgirl.

I was really only wanting to upgrade to either a Blackberry Curve 8330 or an enV 2, but a week before I finally got over to the Verizon store to look at phones, the enV 3 and the enV Touch were both introduced, so I decided to scratch my tech itch and spring for the enV Touch. Not exactly smartphone, but definitely more than "just a phone".

What I did with my VX8300 (and will do with my VX11000) was get a microSD card to transfer an mp3 and set it as the ring tone. That's how I got Ozma's Korobeiniki as my ringtone. I've seen guides that say use a 30-sec clip, but I think I would prefer a 20-sec clip as voicemail either picks up before the end of the clip or whoever's calling hangs up.

07-09-2009, 12:51
I'm hazy on the details (it's been 2+ years since I've done this), but if you have the phone format the card, it'll set up 5 folders. If you'll notice, there might not be a "ringtone" folder, but there'll be a different folder from "music" that you can put the ringtone in (like "soundclips" or something). Put your ringtone in this alternate folder, then put the card back in the phone, go to set up your ringtone, select the "soundclips" folder and voila!

Of course, I'll have to check this when I return to my apartment tomorrow. And find a miniSD card reader (my laptop's reader broke).

My fancy new Palm Pre, I was going to go with the iPhone, but I hate Rogers with a passion and would prefer not to be with them in any scenario.

Oh, it is, loving the hell out of the thing even though it still has some things that need fixed, especially considering the phone is what; 6 months old? I think firmware is on 1.1 or something like that; though if they would just add support for irc and msn messenger I would be happy as can be.

Success! After much bullshitting around and putting up with bullshit, I finally got a computer to connect to my phone over bluetooth to deliver a sound clip for use as a ringtone and a new picture for use as a wallpaper. I'm now back to using Ozma's Korobeiniki (30-second clip) as my ringtone, am using a picture I found from someone's Deviant Art as my external wallpaper (it ended up being much taller than I realized my phone actually was, but I zoomed it in a bit to take out most of the black on the sides), and a picture of the Bikini Atoll nuclear test as my internal wallpaper. I've attached all for your viewing, listening, and usage pleasure.

I use 30 seconds of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song for my ring tune. Good times all around.

I use the Giygas boss theme for my ringtone, right around the transition from chiptune to metal. Also provided matching wallpapers to fit the EB theme.

My cell phone lets me put ring tones to my contacts. So I assign my ringtones to my contacts to suit them.

Spammers being smart?

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to make of that post.

I'm going to do a soft delete of the post, since I wouldn't trust the link in the signature. If this was just some random person dropping in to randomly necro a thread, then it can easily be undone.

If it is a spammer, though, no need to lose sleep over it.

It was definitely a spammer. Spammers try to be smart by acting like a regular post, but they still spam advertisement by using the signature. In this case, "Sell your domain" was in the signature.

HTC HD7.

T-Mobile was actually giving it away for free via web-only discount. It's my first smart phone. So far, I'm happy with it.

I got a new phone a couple months ago. It's an LG Remarq.

Very un-fancy, but it was free, which is what I cared about the most. It's the first phone I've owned with a camera (1.3 MP glory) and an SD card slot.

The best feature is its fold-out keyboard. No more T9 for me!

I finally got my first Android phone a couple months ago. Although it's been retired (in favor of the Thunderbolt), I got a shiny, new HTC Droid Incredible.

I'm hoping to con Bell into giving me a early upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S2 that's being released in a few days. God knows I pay them enough, at the very least they can do is return the favor.

Let me know how that works out for you. I never use more than 100 out of 450 of my monthly minutes; I think I'm due a free month from Verizon. lul

Great, get some women who can barely speak English, who then tells me three different things; "Oh, end of this year, couple more months, not till next year". She then proceeds to laugh at me.

Awesome customer service Bell.

Should have asked how much it would cost to buy out my current plan, I mean, my phone is only $150 on no term now, so it shouldn't cost that much (though knowing the big three, they'll want $250 or something retarded instead even more retarded, finally dug the information up on the service agreement, only $400 to cancel, whoo!).

my iphone 4's middle button (well more like the only button) is very glitchy as of late. My friends is the same way and he lives very far away so I know it must be the phone.

DAMN YOU APPLE, DAMN YOU.

Deff getting a new smart phone the second i can upgrade....

My store is selling a pay-as-you-go smartphone for $300. It actually looks like not a bad deal, and probably a lot cheaper than getting locked into a plan with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.

I've been a dedicated android user since the original Motorola Droid. Currently I'm making this post with my Samsung Droid Charge. Woot 4G!

I've got an LG Tracfone. Gives off a great signal most of the time, but it's nothing spectacular. Just keep it mainly for emergencies, or if someone I know in person actually decides they want to contact me. My mom's got one as well.

Super Android (http://i.imgur.com/pTtHw.png)

I get such a raging boner every time I think about this.

Still have my Droid Incredible. Going to try to root it this weekend so I have an easier time attempting to recreate the above theme. If anything goes wrong with the jailbreak, I'll just go buy an already-rooted phone to finish out the rest of my contract.

I want that wallpaper but too scared to dip into my root if I had to do it...

My friend at work keeps telling me that I should jailbreak it like he did his Andriod.

Has anyone rooted their Android phone? The only reason I really wanna do it is I hate all the bloatware on my phone that I can't get rid of... If I root it can I system restore it back to factory settings if I wanted to? Does it Void Warranties?

I don't think it voids it because my friend did it all the time and when he phone died. The person was weirded out on how it wouldn't work and she kinda hinted and winked at him and saying unless you modified the root.

I never done it, I was thinking about it but there is a setting in the settings to restore it back to factory default... At least mine is, because that is what I did because I was sure that t-mobile more than likely modified the phone before they sell them.
