Plot: After Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust, a group of survivors led by John Connor (Bale) struggles to keep the machines from finishing the job.

Christian Bale ... John Connor
Anton Yelchin ... Kyle Reese
Sam Worthington ... Marcus Wright
Bryce Dallas Howard ... Kate Connor
Moon Bloodgood ... Blair Williams
Common ... Barnes
Jadagrace ... Star
Helena Bonham Carter ... Serena
Roland Kickinger ... T-800

Directed by: McG

Everytime I see something directed by McG, I have to double-take. McG has also had a hand in the TV series "Chuck" and "Supernatural". He also directed the movies Charlie's Angels, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and We Are Marshall.

I'm apprehensive about this movie. Christian Bale owns as batman but he's also sucked in other roles. I like Helena Bonham Carter but I don't think she will be enough to make this movie successful.

I just fear we are in for a Matrix 3 type situation. Talking about the future (or, in the case of The Matrix, the "real world") is all well and good but actually having to spend an entire movie in that setting might prove to be very uninteresting. We'll just have to see, I guess.

Anyone else going to see it?

I'm still waiting for more on this one. The only thing I remember hearing about this movie is that they are ignoring Terminator 3. I kind of enjoyed the John Connor from 3, but him aside I thought it stunk, so I'm all for leaving that one out of the canon.

I'll probably end up seeing this on DVD at the very least, if I don't go see it in the theaters.

Isn't this series freakin' over yet? They've beat it into the ground.

If James Cameron has nothing to do with it, then it should probably be avoided like plague. Or rape. Or rapeplague.

Plus, isn't McG one of the big minds behind the Pussycat Dolls?

Yeah, this thing is covered in red flags.

Apparently they are now in talked with Linda Hamilton about reprising her role in the movie. Of course, I'm weary of this film with or without her, but there ya go.

Honestly, I'll watch it, I'm sure it's going to be horribly disappointing, much like the series, but I feel like I have to see it. D:

I've decided not to pay to see this one. Like chef said, there's too many red flags and, based on the trailers, I think i already have the movie pretty much figured out.

It's the future. John Conner is leading the resistance. The machines have upgraded their AI in their robot spies and one (or more) of them actually believe themselves to be human. Then, later on if a gun fight, the cyborg becomes instrumental in the victory of the Humans and John Connor says something cheesey to the cyborg like "You'll always be human to us" before it goes into lava and gives a thumbs up. In any case, here's 66 movie stills from T4: Pay Day

I'm not running to the theater to see this one by any means, but if I see it on TV sometime after it's release, I might watch it. Hell, I forced myself through T3 (which wasn't as bad as it could've been), so why not?

:( They're already talking about a Part 5...

The Battle for Terminator 5

The Terminator franchise faces a potentially rocky future, according to a report published by Variety that predicts a bidding war for the rights to future installments.

Terminator Salvation - which hits our screens in the coming weeks - is distributed by Warner Bros. in the US and Sony for international territories. However production company Halcyon owns the rights themselves and, according to the trades, they have a deal in place with rival studio MGM that gives them a 30-day right to first refusal to finance and distribute a Salvation sequel.

MGM turned down the chance to bankroll T4 because Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't involved and Christian Bale was not yet onboard. However if Salvation turns a huge profit, and with director McG and Bale committed to future installments, they are expected to bid for the film.

Why should you care? Because there is the chance that production on Terminator 5 could be seriously delayed by a studio bidding war. If T4 makes serious money, every studio will want a piece of the action.

I'm going to plan on going to see it. Regardless of how "good" it is, or how "Terminator-y" it is, it still looks damn entertaining.

I guess I could start using my points to get free movies...

Generally, that point system is just a tally - you should get the free popcorn, soda, and movie vouchers automatically when you get to a certain number of point, and you alternate between the 3 vouchers repeatedly. I basically got one of them every other time I went. I hope you haven't got them and tossed them out.

I don't remember there being a way to "spend" those points, since when I used them, it was just to keep track of where you're at.

I don't drink soda, so what would I do with the free soda voucher? Why would they allow you to accrue points if they didn't let you redeem them for something? I'll have to check it out next time. Although the one time I did try to redeem them for a free ticket voucher, the box office person told me to talk to guest services, then guest services told me to talk to the box office....instead, I just went to the movie I'd already bought a ticket for.

I'm hearing (http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/05/review-loud-terminator-salvation-makes-for-grim-spectacle/) that this is at least starting out positively and does more than make up for shitty Terminator 3. If you can get past grating sound and overblown music (it's Danny Elfman, though, which alone should make it enjoyable).

RT isn't so nice, though. 34% right now.

If being loud's the only problem with the movie, I'm a little more optimistic about seeing this one. Especially when it comes out on TV, and I can control the volume switch. :P
