Yeah, when I heard about this earlier, I sort of shit myself.
A lot.
All over the apartment.
LOOK.
Already watched that trailer like THIRTY TIMES
Yeah. 3DS. Level 5 and Capcom make all my dreams come true. SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.
Set at a time of witch trials! Solving a mystery together! PHOENIX AND HERSHEL.
SHIT JUST GOT REAL
Seriously. 3DS? One thousand dollars on launch day? I AM STILL THERE. NO PRICE LIMIT NOW.

$1000? Bloody hell...

More likely $250, but I'm totally with CS, I would have whored all over it even at a grand.
You should have just made a post regarding Level 5, fuck, Layton vs., Layton and the Mask of Miracle, Time Traveler, Fantasy Life and Kyaba Joppi (though I doubt this one is leaving Japan).
I've already began sacrificing freshly born babies (possibly moving onto fetuses) to make sure the rest of those games get brought over.

O.o and I think they need to make more Phoenix Wright, I heard there are more of the games but he 'retired' bleh. And I want this game too.

I'd bet money on 300 dollars, actually.
And if this doesn't come over, another 300 for the Japanese system because I am not missing this ever.
Fucking confirmed region locking.
Also buying the soundtrack SO HARD

Or do what I do and download the translated rom. -.-; I know it sounds awful for me to do but it's what I did for Mother and Mother 3.
I think they need to take more risks, I'm sure there are a lot of hardcore fans that would die in orgasmic fury from playing this game.
What's a 3DS?

Three-dimensional game system Ninty is coming out with.
Edit: Hopefully it won't tank like the VirtualBoy.

I never heard of virtual boy to be honest.... Though I remember one game at the demo at Target and when I looked in. I saw a red lines and itw as like flying a plane. It was rather awkward. I was only 8 by then.

It was Red Alarm.
Which is not nearly as confusing as it looks in screenshots, the stereoscopic effect was decent at allowing you to play with minimal troubles.
The game itself was lackluster and simple, though.
VB should be played with to see Mario Tennis, Wario Land, and Galactic Pinball. The last of which has an absolutely fan-fucking-tastic soundtrack. Example!

Most of the other titles are ignorable.

Plus you don't need to strap the 3DS to your face.
SpaceProg

Which is a definite plus. I've not looked into the 3DS much, so I assume some sort of 3D glasses will have to be worn?

I don't think so.
llama_egg
10-21-2010, 14:41
It's not "don't think so", it was confirmed quite a long time ago that it would be, intact, glasses-free play. You can also toggle 3D on and off if memory serves, so if you find yourself not liking it, just turn it off.
Also, in regards to the 3DS and Level 5, this is not a pre-rendered cut-scene. BRING THIS SHIT OVER LEVEL 5!

Are you drunk? Possibly high? Maybe both? Trying to decipher you're post was quite difficult, and even now I'm trying to figure out what you're trying to say.
You don't need to confirm it when Nintendo confirmed it back in June during their press conference (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/nintendo-3ds-unveiled-at-nintendo-press-conference/).
And you don't see the reason for what? Being able to toggle the 3D effect or the ability to use it without glasses?
And no, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really having trouble trying to figure out what you're trying to say.

I assume 3DS is going to be compatible with normal DS titles, right?
I'm glad I haven't sprung for a DSi yet.
ALSO:
You can tell that video in Llama's post is fictional because that girl is able to ride a subway train in Japan without getting molested by every man on it.
llama_egg
10-21-2010, 16:30
Or the fact no one's offering her money for her panties.
And yes, the 3DS is compatible with older games, unless I'm horribly retarded. The US release is slated for March I believe, though I'll believe it when I see it. I have a hard time believing Nintendo will get it to us within one month of the Japan release. Oh well, either way I'm going to have a DS, DSi, and 3DS. I guess I can now trade Pokemon amongst 3 systems. YEAH!

MOAR NEWS!
Keiji Inafune was "80 per cent certain" that the company would refuse Level 5's request to collaborate on a crossover Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright game, the Capcom producer has revealed in an interview.
"I thought it would be impossible," he said in an interview in this today's Weekly Famitsu, translated by Eurogamer, in which he spoke alongside his Level 5 compatriot Akihiro Hino.
Inafune said that he didn't expect veteran Phoenix Wright director Shu Takumi to agree to the project because "Phoenix Wright is handled very carefully within Capcom" - also joking that he expected it to be difficult since Takumi is someone who "doesn't listen to what people say".
Hino appears to have been the lynchpin in getting the hugely anticipated crossover game into production, with Inafune praising him not only for managing to charm Takumi into accepting the idea - and subsequently becoming the scenario writer for the project - but for coming up with the concept in the first place.
"Nobody but Hino could have thought of it," he said. "In a sense, we're rivals, so usually you wouldn't want to do this sort of thing..."
The game is a true collaboration, Inafune insisted, with strong involvement from both Capcom and Level 5.
"It wasn't a case of licensing out the Phoenix Wright characters and demanding our licence money. That isn't a collaboration, and users would see that. For this standalone game, we wanted to create a great history, which would have been impossible if both parties were not fully involved."
The Famitsu piece doesn't include a lot of new information about the game, which was announced this week and is currently only for Japan (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-10-20-layton-vs-phoenix-wright-only-for-japan), but Hino did confirm that, as well as working together, the two puzzle-solvers will also face off against each other over the course of the story
"I think the fans of both games want to see a showdown," he explains, "and also want to see a scene where [Layton and Wright] join hands and take on a really big challenge... We want to fill the game with both aspects."
Hino also said Phoenix Wright's influence on the hugely popular Professor Layton games in the interview, acknowledging that "from the outset, Professor Layton owed a lot to Phoenix Wright in some ways...
"We researched the good and bad points of Phoenix Wright, developed the good points and overcame what I saw as the bad points - that's how we created Professor Layton."

Professor Layton actually outsells Phoenix Wright by, well, a lot.
and Professor Layton trounces the Ace Attorney series with 9.5 million units sold worldwide, versus Ace Attorney's 3.9 million.
That 3.9 million includes a lot of versions of the same games. Since the first Phoenix Wright's release in Japan in 2001, the five games have been released on Game Boy Advance, PC, DS, mobile phones, iPhone, and WiiWare. The four Professor Layton games have only been released once each on DS, with a couple of original games on Japanese cell phones. However, Layton has Nintendo marketing (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/09/this-week-on-the-nintendo-channel-celebrities-mac-and-cheese/) behind it in the west, with Nintendo pushing the puzzle games to audiences beyond the core gamer set.

But Capcom already said "sure you nutty Westerners can have it, fine with us!"
I'm more intrigued by the mention of 4 Layton games. What's this fourth one that apparently I had no idea even existed?
SpaceProg

Yeah, my Aunt (she also loves the Layton games) saw the commercial for the latest Layton title ONCE. Me, I didn't even know it existed until she told me about it.

Shit, Unwound Future just came out though.
Amazon only has listings for Curious Village, Diabolical Box, and Unwound Future. However, it DID pop up with "Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute" when I was entering my query.

No, that's the 4th one.
Don't expect it for a bit though. It'll probably be listed at 2011's E3, though. Regular DS. It's been out in Japan for over a year already.
Mask of the Miracle is the 3DS one.
