HARTFORD, Connecticut (AP) -- Passing notes in study hall or getting your best friend to ask a boy if he likes you or, you know, LIKES you, is so last century. Nowadays, teenagers are snapping naked pictures of themselves on their cell phones and sending them to their boyfriends and girlfriends.
Many of these pictures are falling into the wrong hands -- or worse, everyone's hands, via the Internet -- and leading to criminal charges.
Some parents are aghast.
"I just don't understand why kids would do a stupid thing like that," said Rochelle Hoins of Castle Rock, Colorado, where 18 students in her twin sons' middle school sent around nude pictures of themselves last year. "We did dumb things when we were kids, but not like that," said Hoins, whose sons were not involved.

Kids are growing up with technology that many of their parents didn't have at that age. The only thing is, most kids sending files in such ways don't realize that it's very easy to transfere images to the net...where anyone in the WORLD has access to it! It's one of the downfalls of the net.. You post things, sending out the links to your friends and family only, never realizing that the link could appear in some random google search..
Photobucket, stickam, and myspace are places where people might post personal images or videos, but as I constantly say to people at work, "There's a back door into everything when it comes to technology." People just don't see how easy it really is..

That is very true, and it's also something so easy to forget. One of the thread on UEF , which contained me ranting about my older boss was found by the said boss. That put me through a lot of 'whoops' for a day. In the long run I had to delete the thread.
Of course that is the downside of why I keep most sections visible to spider bots: to get this site on UEF. Talk about irony.

Not to mention, the whole group of so-called "friends" I had on CTF who found it. >.>
Throwing around naked pictures on one's self to others, though. That's something else. I don't condone it, never have condoned it, and I never will, either. No matter how moral or immoral it is. Like TJ said, basically, ANYBODY can get their hands on that stuff if they want it that bad. Loopholes in technology are great, eh?
The other thing of course is that they're TEENAGERS! Illegal as fuck in terms of how the law goes. And they should know this. But stupid is as stupid does..

I think the stupid part is when they don't realize that their pictures could be easily found online (as TJ Kitsune mentioned) If they ABSOLUTELY want to show themselves off like that, they need to do a much more private secured way, not putting it on photobucket or myspace, it's so friggin dumb.

They should realize that files spread quickly, especially pictures. Apparently they just don't care. Sad, really.

They'll just have to learn the hard way.
