From Boing Boing:

Dennis Kucinich has introduced articles of impeachment for George W Bush to Congress: Thirty-five articles were presented by Rep. Dennis Kucinich to the House of Representatives late Monday evening, airing live on C-SPAN. "The House is not in order," said Kucinich to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), upon which Pelosi pounded her gavel.

"Resolved," Kucinich then began, "that President George W. Bush be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate. ...
"In his conduct while President of the United States, George W. Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and to the best of his ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has committed the following abuses of power..."

The first article Kucinich presented, and many that followed, regarded the war in Iraq: "Article 1 - Creating a secret propaganda campaign to manufacture a false case for war against Iraq."
Kucinich tried to do this earlier in January, but couldn't get enough support. Even the one that he tried seriously for, impeachment of Dick Cheney, ended up falling through the cracks. He might get enough support this time though. Although, this late, the only lasting effect is that it'll go on Bush's record. The dude's out in January, and I'm willing to bet money that Congress can't move fast enough to do anything about it now. Didn't Clinton's impeachment take a couple years and nothing serious came out of that?

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw in Rhode Island this past weekend: "Impeach Bush! Nixon did less."

As much as I'd like to see him officially reprimanded, I don't think it's worth Congress' attention right now.

What's the point? o_O DumbTrying desperately to convince the world that we're actually a respectable country and give them the illusion that when our leaders torture, spy on us, destroy our economy, and do everything in their power to piss off the rest of the world we actually hold them accountable?

At the end of a term? No.

At the end of a term, doing this is just a left wing attempt to try and let the door hit Bush's ass on the way out.

If this had come up during the Guantanamo bay incident, the initial invasion of Iraq without UN support, or any other appropriately outlandish event that could be blamed on Bush, then yes, Ary would be right.

As it is now, though, it's just a childish attempt for some lefty to say "Ha!" before Bush is out.

Tax dollars at work, my friends.

Edit: Oh, yeah, and just to remind people who this is we're talking about, Dennis K. was a mayor of Cleveland until the city went bankrupt under his term, giving him the nickname "Dennis the Menace". In some book was voted as the 7th worst mayor in American History for his "abrasive, intemperate, and chaotic administration." Oh, and the guy claims to have seen a UFO. No shit. Look it up.

They might get him out of office a month early, and permanently fuck over his record, if this goes through. At the VERY best. However, if this were done, say, June 2007, we'd have a different leader as I type this. And personally, I believe that's what SHOULD'VE been done. After the Bush/Kerry ballot 4 years ago, something happened to make me lose faith in him. Maybe I learned how to think..

*Coughs* You do realize he can't be president anymore? It's kinda like when they impeached Clinton, which I was loling at.

Just to be clear, impeachment is not the same as removal from office and if Bush did ever get removed from office, our next president is Dick Cheney, who politically-driven democrats seem to despise even more. Really, there's no logic to any of this. Just a little man trying to make a stink after his glorious 2-week presidential run this year, lmao.
