This never took off on the other UEF. Mainly because of inactivity over there. But with the new start, let's hope this does.

What do you guys think of GTA IV now that it's out? Delivering beyond your expectations? Disappointing as hell? Tell us of your thoughts here.

Disappointed it was not brought back to London tbh. If it was to follow the original series, we would be in 60's London and who would not love the Cockney mobsters?!

Still to play it but my friends say its the best thing since sliced bread but I shall be the judge of that for me :P

London would be quite fun again; however, Crogg thinks the New York angle is a nice change. ANGRY NEW YORK ASSHOLES!

Crogg is not huge on GTA to be honest, but this game has a major improvement over the other games in the areas of driving and killing. That is a win.

The thing is, Liberty City in GTA III, which Benzies said himself was much like New York. There are parts like it but they said most people assumed it to be New York as thats where the original GTA placed New York.

To them, it was more about making a 3-D version of GTA using new technologies.
They took up NYC in IV as it would be easy to develop and most people would have liked it.

Does anyone have any idea when GTA IV for PC comes out?

To me, this incarnation of Liberty City has a much larger, grittier New York feel this time around. At least in GTAIII I always felt like Liberty City could've been any major city. Sure it had some New York tendancies... but it was really straight up "New York". It truly does feel like New York this time around. I think that's probably due more to the people populating GTAIV and some of the texturing this time around. That's my take, I was never too into GTA to be honest so I may be completely off to someone that played the games a lot.

Not yet announced but its usually 6-7 months after October, so call it November? That was when Sony paid them though, MS rammed ?25m for the episodic content so cant be sure when its out for PC as MS would like it as it would drive some OS sales.

Hmm.

What I have heard is that developing to xbox 360? starts to resemble PC developing, so dual releases to these platforms could not be too far away...

I don't think if I really should wait that game, my playings depends on wine.. :)

But eh, let's see what ms'll bring.

They said a PC version is not likely to see the light of day. But that's not completely discounting the possibility, either. Every GTA except for LCS and VCS has been on the PC since day one, anyway. So if it happens, I estimate between November - February it would be released. And if it's gonna happen, probably a month before release we'd hear something on it. So you could be waiting as long as January '09 for a PC announcement, if it's gonna happen.

Incorrect. GTA 1 was the first one, released in May or June 1997. The PS1 version followed a little later. They then released GTA2 on the PS1 BEFORE the PC version (maybe due to the fact multi-player required more time or they would have better sales on PS1).

GTA III was released first on the PS2 and when Sony paid R* to not put on Xbrick for 3 years and make it a PS2 exclusive for about 6 months. This was the same for GTA Vice City and San Andreas.

When it came to GTA IV, Sonys contract had expired and from the looks of it, they did not cough up to make it a PS3 exclusive. Also, the current PS3 fanbase is not large enough to support the ?50m investment R* put into IV. This was shown as about 55% of IV sales were 360 on launch day in the UK, about 45% for the PS3 - Totalling about 600 000 copies therefore about ?24-25m on their launch day in the UK alone. If it was just the PS3, it would be about ?11m which they did not want.

LCS and VCS were Sony exclusives so they will probably become available for the XBrick and PC when Sonys contract expires.

They may be in development now but R* North said they were not active in any other projects prior to IV release. Thing is R* Leeds may well be making it for the XBrick or PC but they have only made PSP and PS2 versions of games I believe.
