![]() http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/daybreakers_teaserposter_m.jpg I have not watched this movie but I will tonight. I'm kind of excited to see it. The plot, in short, is that vampires have taken over the world and the human race is damn near extinct. This poses a problem to vampires because, if they go without feeding on human blood for too long, they devolve into mindless demons. Among the stars are Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, Willem Dafoe, and others. Here's a trailer: With Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and The Vampire's Assistant making the vamp genre out to be something reserved for teenaged girls, I'm very happy to see Vamps put in their rightful place as creatures of horror. On Rottentomatoes.com, it's score evened out at a fresh 66% Quote:
I'll try and get a review up tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Daybreakers
I was thinking of seeing Daybreakers, it seemed like a good movie.
And I like Cirque de Freak: Vampire's Assistant. I found it to be a good movie. |

Re: Daybreakers
Alright, I watched it.
I thought it would be better than it was. That said, it wasn't bad. There are far fewer scares than I would have liked. The plot that's outlined in my original post is pretty much the movie to a T. I would have liked to see more depth and more horror aspects rather than the social commentary. I'm glad that I waited to see this rather than seeing it in theaters but it's still a decent way to kill an hour and a half and there are some cool gore shots in there. 5.5 - 6 out of 10 from me.

Re: Daybreakers
To be honest, the appeal I found in it stemmed from how it seemed like a new sort of twist that hadn't really been explored in vampire movies before. Sort of like a modern-day version of the plot to Soul Reaver without Kain or Raziel running around.
That concept seemed a lot more interesting to me than the typical blood n' guts fest that passes for horror these days. |
